OVERCOMING OPPRESSION

Confucius was such a wise man. He wrote in his commentaries to "I Ching" Hexagram 47, "Oppression leads us to perplexity, and thereby to success. Only the superior person is capable of being oppressed without losing the power to succeed".

When we feel stuck in our lives, we need to first ascertain whether the cause is inner or outer. Many times the cause really is external, but just as often it may actually be an unconscious internal attitude we need to adjust.

Many saints and sages of various traditions also teach that we can help facilitate goodness and Divine Order in our lives if we deliberately clean our inner "house", our minds, of the enemies of anger, greed, ego, pride, attachment and aversion.

Each astrological sign, whether it is our Sun sign or one of our planetary placements, holds a key to our empowerment in either favorable circumstances or oppressive ones.

ARIES has the courage to create new beginnings, new "springtimes" when a path has concluded in its life, whether a job, a relationship, or a pattern of behavior.

TAURUS, although resistant to change, has an inner stability that can carry it through necessary adjustments in its outer circumstances.

GEMINI has the objectivity to define and resolve duality, recognizing when it is polarized from others rather than feeling oneness.

CANCER cares emotionally, sometimes beneficial, but it can also be detrimental, causing dependency which smothers freedom to enjoy connections with others.

LEO believes in itself so much that others dare not negate it. At best this is an invulnerability, but when not evolved, it can be too proud to learn its lessons.

VIRGO can be self-critical or critical of others, judging as imperfect the very stages of growth necessary to become its own perfection.

LIBRA holds such high ethics that this world may be discouraging. It needs to keep its own counsel, even if its society tries to tempt it with unethically acquired instant gratification.

SCORPIO has the power to create what it wants and to destroy what it doesn't want. Its inner courage is stronger than any outer oppression.

SAGITTARIUS has inner freedom because it has a genuine relationship with Higher Power. Its optimism holds no matter how negative "reality" may appear to be.

CAPRICORN has ambition that reaches upward, like the branches of a tree, and deep connections to history, that reach down like the tree's roots.

AQUARIUS is the growing tip on the tree of life. It is the inventor, the original, the dare-to-be-different eccentric ahead of its time.

PISCES is quite content to be alone. Meditation links it to higher realms than the physical plane, and then it translates that higher consciousness here on earth.
