TOP SECRET MANIFESTO

I think I have figured out a way to slow down or reverse global warming, and to get half the world's population to go vegan.

I hear a lot of people say that it is up to the corporations to make the changes, or for governments to force changes.

We can see that that is not working. To my knowledge, no government has ever met any of the goals decided at the first 26 meetings of the Conference of the Parties. If you have been paying attention, it appears that COP26 was a total failure, just like the previous 25, and looking into the future, COP27 in Egypt doesn't hold much promise.

Governments and businesses (and corrupt-selfish-greedy-evil people) around the world have decided that profits are more important than people. It’s time that we fight them with their own weapons.

Capitalism and greed are destroying the planet. It is no longer a climate crisis; we are in a planetary emergency.

So, how do we fight using their own tools?

Capitalism works with supply and demand. As long as we buy products, they are going to manufacture more and more. It is time to vote with our dollars, and our Euros, and whatever currency we have around the world to stop buying the products that are causing global warming, and to start buying products that are green, that are renewable, that help people and the planet.

An estimated 30% of carbon in the atmosphere is caused by the animal agriculture industry. The rainforests are being cut down, clear-cut, to grow more grain for more beef, for more steaks, for more hamburgers.

Only we the people can make the changes necessary to save our planet. Every time we buy a tank full of gasoline, we are encouraging the oil companies to pump more oil.

Every time we eat fish, we are encouraging fishermen to throw more nets in the seas to catch more fish.

Every time we buy more nuggets, we are encouraging the abuse of billions of chickens to be mistreated and tortured just for our taste buds.

All these lead to global warming. It is time that we the people make the changes necessary to force the corporations to stop killing animals, to stop pumping oil, to stop producing more plastic, to stop throwing nets into the oceans, to save our planet.

The corporations and the governments are not going to do it unless we force them to with the power of our votes, and I don’t mean political votes. It doesn’t seem to matter who we vote into office, because money controls politics.

We vote with our dollars, we vote with our purchases, and we vote by not purchasing.

When we stop buying gasoline, they will stop pumping oil. When we stop eating animals, they will no longer cut down rainforests. When we demand, with the power of our purchases, green products, they will submit to us because our dollars have power.

My plan, set forth below, is to form an organization, either a nonprofit organization or a union, with free membership and for those who can, with membership fees. Sort of like a union of vegans. The accumulation of these voluntary membership fees from hopefully millions of people, will help us to convince people to make the changes.

I think our primary focus has to be on young people, from ages seven through 21, because they are going to see the results if we do nothing. It's going to take a generation of young people, a generation of vegans, to make real, significant changes.

My plan is multifaceted, but the basis is free and very cheap membership fees renewed monthly, starting at $1 per month. We will of course have different levels of membership, and people who can afford more can donate much more.

There are already many organizations doing good work, doing many of the things that I mention below. I do not want to duplicate their efforts, but rather support them financially as our membership base grows.

I also want to financially support scientists and writers to do original research, showing the links between animal agriculture and global warming.

I want to use the same techniques that the corporations, governments and polluters use, advertising and propaganda, hearing the same thing from multiple people, multiple sources, and multiple publications, in print, on television, and all over the web.

I have studied Neurolinguistic Programming, NLP, and I have seen the power of words and how we are affected by them through corporate advertising. We must use the same techniques to show people what is really happening and what we can do as individuals.

I’ve been waiting for someone else to do something, and a lot of people really are trying, but there doesn't seem to be an organized effort.

I cannot do this alone. I am old and do not have the energy. I was hoping to travel in retirement, but I don’t think that’s going to be possible anymore. So if you are reading this, either I sent you to this webpage, or someone else has, and I need your help.

This is going to take many years, many hours of volunteer labor, and a lot of money. My initial thought is that it will take a lot of organizing, managing, teaching and action for 18 years until half the world is vegan.

But together we can do it.

More Thoughts

water buffalo
This is a water buffalo, a beast of burden in the Philippines.

The name BOV has a dual meaning.

The family of mammals Bovidae, or Bovine, is the most misused and abused mammal on earth. Cows, beef, bison, buffaloes, water buffalo, sheep, goats, cattle and musk oxen are some of the bovine family. An enormous portion of global warming is due to the use and misuse of bovine.

And the other meaning is Billions of Vegans, because even a few hundred million vegans won’t be enough to change the world. It’s going to take half of the earth’s population to be vegan to affect the changes we need.

I estimate that there are 84,000,000 vegans in the world today, just over 1% of the world population. If we can get 1% of 84 million vegans to join at the basic fee of $1 per month, that’s $840,000 per month. With that much income we can make some real changes.

All Board Directors must be vegan. All scientists and all organizations we give money to must be vegan. There can be no compromise in our values.

That said, our membership must be all-inclusive. We will accept as members vegans, vegetarians, those just becoming aware, those trying "meatless Mondays", and even carnivores.

It's going to take massive amounts of money to turn the world vegan or even half-vegan and to make a dent in reversing global warming.

So if McDonalds or the American Dairy Association wants to give us a million dollars, we will accept the money and help McDonalds veganize their menu and help dairy farmers grow crops for alternate plant milks.

And we have to eliminate infighting. No more criticizing other vegans. The goal is to save the planet and the animals.
