GEMSTONES AND ASTROLOGY

Most westerners are familiar with the concept of “astrological birthstones.” But the right “Medicine stone” for a person may not be their supposed birthstone.

The first step in finding out the best gemstones to wear is to have a complete astrological birth chart calculated and interpreted, so that one can find out one's strengths and also what attributes need to be developed.

There is a story in the book “Gem Therapy”, by an Ayurvedic physician named Dr. Bhattacharya, who recounts a case history of a patient of his in India who developed an inexplicable persistent fever, which no medical efforts could abate.

After calculating the patient's astrological chart, Dr. Bhattacharya saw a “stellium,” a cluster of several planets in the fixed fire sign Leo. He asked if the patient liked rubies, the gemstone often associated with Leo. Proudly, the patient boasted that he had recently acquired a large high-grade ruby and wore it often.

But the patient's chart showed an excess of fire energy, and ruby exacerbated this “heat,” actually precipitating the fever.

So it is important to see which gemstones support the client's highest good.

To activate will, the sun in the chart, ruby is worn.

To activate receptivity and emotional responsiveness, from one's moon, wear moonstone.

To develop one's mental and communicative gifts, governed by Mercury: emeralds.

To cultivate love, the arts and music: diamonds, a Venus stone.

To activate physical energy, governed by Mars: Red Coral.

To strengthen one's spiritual discipleship, yellow sapphire and topaz: Jupiter stones.

To activate maturity and self discipline, Saturn's attributes: blue sapphire, onyx and smoky quartz.

To develop egolessness and social responsibility, Uranus attributes: labradorite (spectrolite).

To develop mysticism, meditation and sobriety: amethyst, a Neptune stone.

To develop hidden psychic powers and inner transformation: opals, a Pluto stone, but it should not be worn when one feels emotionally unstable, as it amplifies one's own feelings.

Acquire stones from trustworthy sources.

Many people with the Uranian planet Admetos well placed in the birth chart prefer to work with raw, uncut crystalline gems, unchanged from their original sacred geometry.

Quartz crystals, known for their memory, are used in many ways for healing, meditation and programming, just like little computers.
